Hermana Burrell @ SLC Airport

HOLA! I am using a Spanish key board! Hard stuff.

We made it into Lima at midnight (after customs and baggage claim) and then we had an hour bus ride to the MTC. Lima is.... interesting. Many parts of the city look like a bomb has gone off. There are apartment buildings with no roof and some with open walls. There are piles of trash in the streets. We saw the garbage man come by and huck it into the back of a truck and take off. There was another man that followed and burned everything that was left.

I saw my very first working girl! Not so awesome.

The MTC is great. My companion is Sister Nelson, she is from Arizona. The weather is cool and humid. There are not a lot of windows here and there is no carpet. I learned how to work the showers but there is not much of a temp. control. The water is either ice or lava. Mostly ice. But hey, I smell clean. All the sisters here are so great.

The people here always talk in Spanish. I learned to say "where is the breakfast?" today. Later I will learn to ask where lunch is :) I got by badge and it was spelled wrong, one L instead of 2. Its fixed now but they wouldn't  let me keep the old one for a souvenir. I am so grateful for this chance to serve! My companion and I get lost a lot. We just laugh through it because there isn't much to do other than that. I got this great candy! Its like a kinder bar. I got to exchange my money today. I left a little out just in case. So I have 194 sols. That's $70 US.

The plane food was decent. The fed us 2 meals on the way to Lima! About and hour out, you could see lights on the shore. I thought it was a fire because the lights were so far apart and seemed to be moving. Turns out it was Lima. All the street lamps are fog lights because so far there has been a constant cool fog. I love it.

I leave the MTC on 10/04. I only had 10 minutes so I have to go now. Know that I have a testimony of this Church. I know I am where I am supposed to be. I love you all!
